The Los Angeles Rams had a brief but active free agency period to kick off the week, signing star wide receiver Davante Adams and an underrated pickup in signing defensive tackle Poona Ford. After their first two initial big moves, the Rams have shored up depth by adding Coleman Shelton and Larrell Murchison.

However, they still need to address a few key spots in the remainder of the offseason, whether it's in the draft, a trade, or further free agent signings.

Los Angeles Rams Needs Post-Free Agency

Linebacker

Even if the Rams' organization doesn't believe they need help here, everyone else, including myself, believes they do. The only linebackers on the roster are UDFA Omar Speights and two practice squad players in Tony Fields II and Elias Neal. This isn't even remotely close to an NFL-caliber room yet.

If LA is serious about contending next season, they have to make several additions to this room in the rest of the offseason. They haven't made any commitment here at all in free agency, a concerning sign, but perhaps they will invest here in the draft.

Cornerback

The Rams like their starting duo of Cobie Durant and Darious Williams, but they need some serious help here, as this group struggled throughout 2024 and they have little depth behind the duo. Derion Kendrick was benched repeatedly the last time we saw him before suffering an injury that knocked him out of all last season, and the rest of the room is built from UDFAs.

Given the plethora of talented wide receivers they face in the NFC, adding multiple bodies in this room should be the expectation.

Wide Receiver

The Rams added Davante Adams and strangely decided to re-sign Tutu Atwell, but I'd still argue that wide receiver should be a position they add more to. With the injury histories of Puka Nacua, Jordan Whittington, and Tutu Atwell, this room could get thin quickly if something goes wrong.

I would draft at least one player into this room, as the Rams need as many playmakers as they can to capitalize on Matthew Stafford.

Tight End

I doubt the Rams will be in contention for a major move like Mark Andrews or Dallas Goedert, given the money they've already thrown at the room in Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson, but I would be surprised if they walk out of the draft without drafting a single tight end.

They are still searching for a long-term answer to replace Tyler Higbee, and Colby Parkinson had a rough initial year in Los Angeles. Drafting one to eventually carry the load in that room would be a wise move.

EDGE Rusher

Jared Verse and Byron Young have the team's starting spots locked down, but the Rams don't boast a lot of depth behind them. Brennan Jackson and Nick Hampton are more question marks at this stage, and if you're serious about a Super Bowl run, you need a proven stable of pass rushers.

I'd add another free agent (Carl Lawson? Za'Darius/Preston Smith?) and a draft pick into this room to compete with the youth in this room.
