The Florida State Seminoles have to get back to their winning ways. Yes, it's a process and it will take some time, especially in this new era of college football. However, the Noles are making it work. We haven't seen the results yet, but 2025 could be huge.

And, I'm not saying a National Championship or anything like that, no. But, they could make huge strides compared to their two win season last year, their worst season since the 1970s. A bowl game appearance in 2025 would be a big improvement. But, all the work starts off the field in recruiting. If they can recruit well for 2025, which they did, and carry that to 2026, which they are so far, then strides will be made.

And, in terms of roster building, it really starts in the trenches. They have the chance to land one of the best in the country.

Seminoles are a serious contender for OT Johnnie Jones

Johnnie Jones is a four-star offensive tackle from Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa, Florida, and a key player in the Class of 2026. He’s 6-foot-6 and weighs between 280 and 305 pounds. In his junior year of 2024, he helped Berkeley Prep’s offensive line dominate, like in their 14-0 win over Boca Ciega in August. His size, strength, and quickness make him great at stopping pass rushers and opening lanes for runs.

Jones is ranked No. 11 among offensive tackles and No. 137 overall by 247Sports, and No. 23 at his position and No. 262 overall by On3. He’s also a top-50 recruit in Florida. He’s got over 20 offers from big schools like Florida, Miami, Georgia, Ole Miss, Penn State, and Colorado. Florida’s the favorite right now with a 34.4% chance to get him, thanks to his home-state ties and a visit in April 2024 when they offered him. Georgia’s close with 30.1%, and Miami’s in the mix too.

But, I wouldn't rule out the Seminoles at all.

He’s taking his time with recruiting, planning visits to at least seven schools, including Colorado and maybe ten more later. As he fills out, he’s got the potential to be a top player and contribute early at whatever college he picks.
