Former LSU Tigers quarterback Joe Burrow raised some eyebrows last month with some comments he made about the upcoming NFL season.

Burrow, who is entering his seventh season with the Cincinnati Bengals, said it’s “now or never” when it comes to winning a Super Bowl in Cincy.

“I’m trying to put it out into the world,” said Burrow. “I’m trying to manifest it. I’m trying to show our guys the urgency that I have and that I want us to have as an organization to go and make it happen.

“You can keep pushing it down the road, or you can talk about it now and say this is the year. And I’m tired of saying next year, next year, next year. This is it. Your life is too short to keep pushing things down the road. I’m trying to instill some urgency and some intensity in everybody to go be great every day and to try to go make it happen.”

“That’s how I’m treating it,” added Burrow when asked if it’s now or never.

Some fans interpreted his comments to mean that he wants out of Cincinnati if the Bengals can’t get it done this season.

Burrow eased the worries of Bengals fans this week as he made it clear that he’s committed to Cincinnati.

“I’m efficient with my words, and when I’m efficient with my words, that leaves some room for interpretation,” said Burrow to Bengals.com. “But I mean what I say. I’m here for the long haul. I’m not going anywhere. I’m just trying to bring a now-or-never mentality to the day-by-day process. If you’re not, what are you doing? Attack the day with a championship mindset. The rest will take care of itself.”

“I’m just really proud to be quarterback of the Bengals,” added Burrow. “I’m happy to be here. I’m proud to represent the city of Cincinnati, state of Ohio, the Brown family. I’m just proud and I want to make everybody else proud, too.”

No need to interpret those comments — it’s clear that Burrow isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
