Though the Dallas Cowboys are unlikely to be uber aggressive once NFL free agency starts next week, we shouldn't rule out a trade for veteran experience.

Jerry and Stephen Jones have brought up the possibility multiple times this offseason and with a projected six picks between the fifth and sixth round, they'll have the ammunition to make a move or two. For the right player, they might even feel comfortable giving up a third-rounder.

That matters if they're even remotely interested in adding a wide receiver, they should look into D.K. Metcalf, who is seeking a trade from the Seattle Seahawks.

If you've kept up with what Metcalf reportedly wants, you might be scared at the prospect. Dianna Russini from The Athletic reported the Seahawks wand a first and a third for him and Metcalf will be looking for $30 million per year.

In all likelihood, you just rolled your eyes and thought Nope! Don't like that and I don't blame you one bit. I also think there are 31 NFL teams that will feel the same way. That's good for the Cowboys as chances are it would be much cheaper to acquire Metcalf.

It's always difficult to figure out how much a player costs in the trade market but according to CBS' Josina Anderson, there's at least one NFL team willing to part ways with a third-rounder for Metcalf. Could the Cowboys go as far as giving up a Day 2 pick for him?

While it's plenty, Metcalf would make a gigantic impact on the offense and make CeeDee Lamb's much easier while giving Dak Prescott a huge target with a knack for making contested catches.

Or perhaps Dallas could get creative and make a deal like the one Cowboys content creator "Your Guy Nix" suggested on X, which includes swapping the team's first-round pick with the Seahawks' and dropping two spots. That and a Day 3 sweetener like a fifth-rounder could seal the deal.

Who knows what the compensation will be for Metcalf when it's all said and done but what is clear is the Cowboys wouldn't have to pay as much as it's being reported. You can expect the Seahawks receiver to go for less than the initial reports are suggesting.

Should and will are two very different things though, and I'd be surprised if the Cowboys seek such an aggressive move that would require them to throw a healthy chunk of money Metcalf's way.

It's one of the bigger opportunities out there to be "selectively aggressive" but I'm not betting on them to do it."
