Raiders' new regime has the chance to back up all their implausible claims by making one big move that's very doable

The Las Vegas Raiders and their new regime have been telling the world that this will not be a rebuild year, even though we all know it is. But, hearing new head coach Pete Carroll say that they will go for it this year certainly sounds good.
And, what is Carroll supposed to say, that this steam is bad and year one with this new regime will be bad? No, he would never say that. And, let's be honest, he isn't used to losing and rebuilding, so why would he want that to be the case in Las Vegas? He only had three losing seasons from 2010-2023 with the Seattle Seahawks. He won a Super Bowl with them against the Denver Broncos, and nearly won another one against the New England Patriots. Carroll also won a National Championship with USC.
But, there is a way where he can back up his claims of being a competitive team in 2025. There is a way where he can certainly put together a roster to win football games in 2025, and to back that up, the new regime should make a trade for one of the best players available.
Raiders should trade for DK Metcalf
The connection and chemistry are there. Carroll drafted Metcalf in Seattle and has been a huge part of the success he has had in the league outside of the last year, where Carroll was not coaching. Obviously the sample sizes are small, but Metcalf's best years came under Carroll, where last season under McDonald he had one of his worst seasons. But, don't panic, one of his worst seasons is still a 900 yard season.
The Raiders need weapons to put around whoever the quarterback is going to be. Having just Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers as the only two consistent options just won't get it done on the side of the ball that was awful last season. But, trading for Metcalf is easier said than done.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Seahawks are seeking a first round pick to go along with a third-round pick for Metcalf, who is also eyeing a new contract worth around $30 million per year. It's doable, don't get me wrong, the Raiders definitely have enough tools to get this done, but it's more so if they want to.
Do they want to give all of that up? Probably not. But this is their chance to prove that they mean business.
