Free agency is just days away and the Minnesota Vikings are in a great position to make huge moves and improve their roster. General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has been great when it comes to free agency.

Last year, Adofo-Mensah had a phenomenal offseason, especially with free agency. Not only did the Vikings have a 14-3 record, but the free agent class netted three Pro Bowl players and a second-team All-Pro in Andrew Van Ginkel.

This year, the Vikings have multiple needs with getting pressure on the interior of the defensive line arguably being the biggest one. There are some intriguing players, with multiple not counting toward the compensatory formula, including the first three on our list.

Jonathan Allen

On Friday morning, the Washington Commanders officially released Allen, clearing $15 million in cap space and making him a free agent before the beginning of the legal tampering period.

What's really interesting with Allen is where his play will be. He tore his pectoral in week six against the Baltimore Ravens but returned in week 187 against the Atlanta Falcons, willing to risk it all for the Commanders.

Despite the injury, Allen played relatively well with the injury, including a monster game against the Detroit Lions in the divisional round with seven pressures. At 29 years old, Allen still has plenty of gas in the tank.

Contract prediction: 3 years, $45 million, $28 million guaranteed

Dre'Mont Jones

Jones is a fascinating player. He signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks, but when head coach Mike Macdonald came in, they moved him to a stand up edge rusher. It was a wild move for the Seahawks and it was a big reason why they chose to move on.

He still got 45 pressures on 375 pass rush reps, but converted only three sacks on the season. Jones should be much better playing on the interior and could be a more cost-effective option for the Vikings.

Contract prediction: 2 years, $20 million, $12 million guaranteed

Javon Hargrave

When the San Francisco 49ers signed Hargrave to a four-year deal two years ago, it was insanely back-loaded and never felt like he would see the last two years of his deal. The idea was to use Hargrave to make a Super Bowl run. They were three points away from it, but they didn't get the job done.

Hargrave missed most of the 2024 season with a torn triceps tendon. He did play in three games and had eight pressures across just 63 pass-rush snaps. He is 32 years old, which would make his contract short-term, but there is still some juice to squeeze there.

Contract prediction: 1 year, $11 million, $8 million guaranteed

Milton Williams

Viewed by most the crown jewel of the defensive free agency class, Williams broke out in a big way this past year with 54 pressures and 8.0 sacks on 418 pass rush reps. In the playoffs, Williams had 10 pressures and two sacks, both of which came in the Super Bowl.

Now, Williams is much more of a pass rusher than he is a run defender, which provides the Vikings an interesting conundrum. Is Williams going to be worth the money with how the Vikings like to play defense and put a big focus on stopping the run? It's an interesting one, but he would be a huge asset on third downs.

Contract prediction: 4 years, $82 million, $47 million guaranteed

Levi Onwuzurike

One of my more intriguing free agents in this class, Onwuzurike is a talented player who I loved in the 2021 NFL Draft. There have been some serious injury concerns with him, including missing the entire 2022 season and most of the 2023 season.

What Onwuzurike did this past season was a huge factor in why he's a higher profile free agent on the interior. He's a balanced player in the run and the pass with real pass rush upside. Onwuzurike earned 47 pressures and 3.0 sacks this past season with only two games without a pressure. If the injury history didn't exist, Onwuzurike would be a more highly sought-after player

Contract prediction: 3 years, $42 million, $24 million guaranteed
