The Tennessee Vols are hoping to earn a big off-the-field win against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the coming months.
2027 five-star wide receiver Jamier Brown has been committed to Ohio State since last November, but he's still staying in contact with other programs.
Tennessee is one of the programs that Brown has been communicating with. And according to On3, Brown will make his way to Knoxville for an unofficial visit in June. He'll also take visits to Miami, Oregon, and Maryland. Additional visits to other programs this spring are also a possibility.
Brown told On3 that his commitment to Ohio State is "still good", but he's clearly still listening to pitches from other programs.
“Tennessee sends me a lot of stuff and they have been working to get me there, so I will check it out," said Brown to On3 of his interest in the Vols. "From what I know, it looks nice, so I want to get there and see what it is like.”
"I want to see how the coaches are and who will rock with me," added Brown. "I want to see what the school is like, what the players are like at the school and just get a feel for things at different places.”
Brown, 5-foot-11/170 lbs from Dayton, OH, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 3 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio. He's also rated as the No. 17 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
Stealing a player away from the Buckeyes that's from Ohio obviously won't be an easy task for the Volunteers. But you never know what might happen when it comes to recruiting (especially when NIL deals are involved).
Tennessee will keep chipping away at Brown over the next 18 months. And maybe if the Buckeyes' offense regresses in 2025 without Chip Kelly calling plays, Brown will change his mind about playing in Columbus.
