While the Texas Longhorns are still waiting to get over the national championship hump under head coach Steve Sarkisian, the program is very much back. From a pure talent perspective, Texas rivals the best in the country right now. A big reason for that is the uptick we have seen in recruiting the last couple of years.
The Longhorns look to continue that momentum in the 2026 recruiting class, and they are gearing up to build a lot of momentum this offseason. They are pushing especially hard for Mater Dei offensive tackle Kodi Greene, who is currently committed to the Oregon Ducks.
Greene is considered to be one of the top offensive tackles in the 2026 recruiting class, and one of the top overall players in general. While the Mater Dei star has been committed to the Ducks since August, Greene has not completely shut everything down. Texas is viewed as the favorite right now to eventually flip the five-star.
Texas has solidified an official visit with Greene, who will be heading to Austin June 13-15. The talented offensive tackle also has visits set up to Oregon (June 6-8) and USC (June 20-22).
One interesting thing to note is Texas has had success recently with Mater Dei offensive tackles. They also got a commitment from Brandon Baker in the 2024 recruiting class, and he is projected to start at right tackle this upcoming season.
The 6-6, 285-pound offensive tackle is currently ranked as a five-star player on 247Sports Composite ranking. That ranking has Greene pegged as the No. 20 overall player, the No. 3 offensive tackle, and No. 6 player in the state of California in the 2026 class.
Greene has an endless offer list of elite programs. Some of his top offers include Alabama, Texas, Oregon, Michigan, USC, Florida, Tennessee, Penn State, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Auburn, Washington, Michigan State, Washington State, Oregon State, Stanford, Arizona State, Arizona, Kansas, and Cal among several others.
Texas stars Arch Manning and Colin Simmons wind up on preseason All-Breakout team
The Texas Longhorns are considered one of the favorites to win the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2025-26 for good reason. Not only does Steve Sarkisian have one of the strongest rosters and coaching staffs in the nation, but he has the star power needed to win the big games. Everyone is excited to […]
