"You heard that the Colts are looking for competition for Anthony Richardson. I heard from a handful of people that the Colts' idea of competition for Anthony Richardson is Daniel Jones. Giving him an offense and offensive line that he didn't have in New Jersey. And dude, you could do a heck of a lot worse than that wide receiver core and running game. Daniel Jones in Indianapolis intrigues me, to say the least."

Eisen shares that he heard from "multiple people" that the Colts are interested in signing former New York Giants first-round pick and Minnesota Vikings QB Daniel Jones this offseason. This comes after Colts general manager Chris Ballard announced that the team plans to have an open competition for their starting QB position and, therefore, won't be naming 2023 first-round pick Anthony Richardson ahead of training camp.

Daniel Jones is a pretty polarizing player whose failures in New York have led a lot of NFL fans to view him in a very negative light. Sadly, I think it has caused many to forget the positive moments he has had as a pro. He's never been a game-changing QB by any means, but the Giants' poor decision to give him a massive contract raised expectations for the type of player he had to be.

If the Colts could land Jones on a deal where he makes no more than $10 million a year, they would gain solid competition for Anthony Richardson ahead of 2025. If he loses the starter battle (I think he would), the Colts would gain one of the best backups in the league, and with Richardson's injury history, an incredibly valuable one. I think he should be the Colts' top QB option in free agency, and the more reports that come out seem to be pointing toward him being just that. Now, we will have to wait and see if they will have competition for the veteran QB and if any team views him as good enough to offer him a starter-level contract.
