The Ohio State Buckeyes enter the 2025 NFL free agency period with one fewer representative in the league. 29-year-old Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Sam Hubbard decided to retire after seven years with the franchise.

Making over $35 million over the course of his career, the former third-round pick from Ohio State walked away from the NFL with a great reputation. A run-stopping expert with 38.5 sacks on his resume, he was one of the more reliable role players in the league at his position.

The 6-foot-5,265-pounder was a remarkable player for the Buckeyes before getting selected in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Hubbard played at Ohio State from 2015 through 2017 and left the program as a true junior. He totaled 17 sacks, 116 tackles, and three forced fumbles in that span.

With a 35-5 record and three pairs of golden pants from wins against Michigan, Hubbard was a key part of Urban Meyer's defenses during that stretch. He played next to Joey and Nick Bosa during that time.
