A few weeks after the hire of longtime NFL and Senior Bowl executive Jim Nagy as general manager of the Oklahoma Sooners was announced, Nagy has begun to settle down and begin his work in preparing to oversee all football duties.

As part of his duties, Nagy will be overseeing the roster management of the Sooners. While he won't actively be recruiting, Nagy will be leading the evaluation of the team, opponents, and players in the portal to begin building a championship-quality team every year in Norman.

Nagy will also be building out an entire staff working underneath him to help him in these duties. This staff will likely resemble an NFL front office in terms of structure and role as part of a slew of NFL ideas Nagy will incorporate into the Sooners.

One of those ideas is being aggressive out of the transfer portal. Many have viewed the transfer portal in a similar lens as to that of the NFL's free agency period, and an NFL-esque mindset to the portal is an intriguing idea.

In a recent video produced by the Sooners, Nagy provided an interesting quote regarding the current state of the transfer portal and how he and his staff will attack it.

"The portal is huge now. You look at some of these teams, Oregon's done a great job, Ohio State did a great job this year. You can go out and change your football team in one offseason, so that's what we plan to do."

Fans have been complaining a tad about Oklahoma's work in the transfer portal. Despite nabbing elite talents like Deion Burks and John Mateer in recent years, a common theme has been that the Sooners haven't been aggressive enough to truly transform the team into taking that next step as a program.

It certainly sounds like Jim Nagy plans to do exactly that.
