Heading into last season, the Ohio State Buckeyes had big-time pressure on them with a loaded roster. After knocking on the doorstep a couple of times, Ryan Day finally got the job done and became just the third active college football head coach to win a National Championship.

Ohio State returned a ton of talent that could have entered the 2024 NFL Draft and it meshed well with a loaded transfer portal class. The Buckeyes started their spring sessions on Monday and Day admitted exactly what Ohio State fans wanted to hear.

"I'm definitely more relaxed, Jeremy. To say I'm not is crazy. There's no question. We're in a different place than we were a couple of months ago. I mean, let's call it for what it is."

Day felt the pressure of getting the job done and it was increased after a fourth straight loss to Michigan. The loss to Michigan last November felt defeating at the time and Ohio State went on a historical run beating Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame.

At Ohio State, Day is 70-10 as a head coach and that is a remarkable number. That record didn’t hold a lot of weight before the National Championship due to the lofty expectations that the fanbase and program has. In 2022, the Buckeyes made a field goal against Georgia away from reaching the National Championship. Going all the way in 2024 was a full-circle moment.

Expect to see a more relaxed Day in 2025 potentially, which could be interesting when it comes to in-game decisions. Day is one of the top college football coaches in the country and there may not be a coach in a better spot right now.
