The New Orleans Saints are in the rookie quarterback market. That piece of their 2025 NFL Draft plan under Kellen Moore seems fairly clear. Now, they could take one in round one or round four. Either would make some sense, and both options remain on the table.

That being said, the continued reports surrounding New Orleans' early intrigue in the QB class has made a major wave on the sports betting side of it all at this point.

Saints are new favorites to draft Shedeur Sanders

According to FanDuel, the Saints are now the favorites to pick Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders. They're sitting with +300 odds at this moment, but that number remains fluid.

The Giants are following closely behind at +370. The other three teams in the discussion are the Pittsburgh Steelers (+600), New York Jets (+700), and Cleveland Browns (+700).

Moore was not in attendance for Sanders' performance at the Buffs' Pro Day this past week, but a couple of his assistants were. New Orleans had plenty of folks at the NFL Scouting Combine, and they certainly held some convos with the young QB.

Not to mention, New Orleans was specifically mentioned as a potentially landing spot for Sanders last week, via his father, Deion Sanders.

"I like their colors. I like the city. I like the food. I like the people. I like the possibility."

— Deion Sanders on the possibility of Shedeur getting drafted by the Saints

"Shedeur has talked to me intently about all the visits with all the teams he's had, so I know where his heart is and where he wants to go. If it's New York, it's New York."

"If it's Tennessee, if it's Cleveland, if it's still the Raiders, if it's New Orleans, if it's any of those teams that are seeking a quarterback, I'm happy with it, man – because I know what he's going to do to the organization. I know what he's going to do."

Sanders is a polished thrower of the football. His deep ball looked good during his Pro Day, and he's gotten some positive reviews for his preparation skills over the course of the draft season, too.

A unique player because of his lineage and collegiate path, Shedeur Sanders brings a sharp game to the table. He doesn't have the physical tools to translate perfectly and pick up where he left off at Colorado, so he'll have to be even more disciplined as a pocket thrower to hit his ceiling. He's a massively skilled passer and processor, though, and his developmental curve is as encouraging as anyone's in the last decade. It's hard to imagine him busting unless he struggles to deal with failure away from his father.

Valentino's comp for Sanders is C.J. Stroud. If New Orleans can get that sort of production out of Sanders in the future, that would be a massive win for the future of their offense.

The Saints restructured Derek Carr's contract earlier in the offseason, but they remain active in keeping this rookie QB class on their radar.
