Miller is going viral after a chance encounter at a Rouses Market in Metairie, where he paid for a stranger’s groceries. The moment, shared on Facebook by the woman he helped, Leslie Pedigo, has introduced New Orleans’ second-round pick in the best way to Who Dat nation.
Christen Miller’s pure act of kindness
Pedigo allowed Miller to check out in front of her because he only had a bag of shrimp. Miller responded by paying for all of her groceries.
“My Momma always taught me to do good deeds, and I’d like to bless you today,” Miller told Pedigo. “Please don’t take that blessing from me.”
Pedigo wrote about the encounter on her Facebook page, addressing the Saints organization and Miller’s family directly.
“To the New Orleans Saints—you didn’t just draft an athlete. You drafted a young man of character. And to Momma Miller… thank you. Thank you for raising a son who understands that true strength is shown through humility, generosity, and faith. Your words clearly stayed with him, and because of that, a complete stranger went home reminded that there is still so much good in this world…thank you for your kindness. You reminded me that there are still good people in this world.”

There weren’t any cameras around when this happened. It wasn’t a publicized event, it was a chance encounter, and Miller had no idea it would end up posted online. He didn’t even tell Pedigo his name until she asked him.
This happened because, clearly, it’s who he is, and it speaks to the character of one of the Saints’ youngest players.
It’s the kind of story that sticks with people, even those who aren’t diehard football fans like Pedigo admits.
Miller has now ingratiated himself with so many in the New Orleans fanbase, and he still has his entire career ahead of him.
