Saints 7-round NFL mock draft: New Orleans trades up to land two first-round talents in Kellen Moore's first offseason as head coach

It is always tough to predict trades in NFL mock drafts. For the New Orleans Saints, we do know that they've never shied away from trading up during the draft, though.

For this scenario, I mimicked a move that I could see the Saints making early in the 2025 NFL Draft. They come out with two potential top twenty prospects in the entire class. Check it out below.

New Orleans Saints 7-round mock draft

Round 1, Pick 9: Jahdae Barron, CB, Texas

Barron is a firecracker on defense. He plays with grit and energy on every snap, and you do not often see that from defensive back prospects. Effort will never be a concern for him at the pro level.

Adding Barron makes a lot of sense for Brandon Staley's defense, too. He values defensive backs who are not afraid to tackle and can make plays at the catch point. I think the Longhorns product checks those boxes. Not to mention, more young talent in the secondary is needed for New Orleans.

Round 1, Pick 32 (via Philadelphia Eagles): Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State

Trade time! I moved up into the final spot of the first round here to get another weapon for Kellen Moore's offense in New Orleans.

Egbuka deserves to be a first-round pick, and that comes to fruition here. He's one of the highest-floor prospects in this year's class, and Egbuka would immediately get playing time in Moore's offense that can find production from three different wideouts when performing its best.

Many young wide receivers fall into the trap of using their bodies to catch the football. But that's not a concern with Egbuka; he is a natural hands catcher with top-notch concentration. — Destin Adams

  • Trade details:
    • PHI receives: Pick 40, Pick 112, Pick 184, 2026 5th-round pick
    • NO receives: Pick 32, Pick 168

Round 3, Pick 71: Wyatt Milum, OL, West Virginia

Offensive line depth remains a concern for the Saints. If they do not take an offensive tackle in round one, I think it proves that they are comfortable with Taliese Fuaga and Trevor Penning as their starting OTs next season and maybe beyond.

Milum provides a high floor for a day two prospect inside on the offensive line. He has the capabilities to play tackle, too, but guard may be his best spot at the next level. No matter what – this is solid value for New Orleans as they address a need, too.

Round 3, Pick 93: C.J. West, DL, Indiana

Run defense was a strength for the Saints when their unit played to their peak over the past handful of seasons. They need more bodies inside that are dedicated to stopping the run. West does that consistently. This is a solid fit and value for the former Hoosiers defender.

Round 4, Pick 131: David Walker, EDGE, Central Arkansas

New Orleans' pass rush simply was not good enough a season ago. They brought back Chase Young and will employ a new scheme under Staley. Regardless, grabbing another edge will be on their radar sometime on day one or two. Walker is a scheme fit for their new DC.

Round 5, Pick 168: Devin Neal, RB, Kansas

Saints add a potential backup running back option for Alvin Kamara. Neal runs with impressive balance and burst. Nice pass catcher as well. Kendre Miller cannot be relied upon again in 2025 due to his injury history.

Round 7, Pick 248: Gavin Bartholomew, TE, Pittsburgh

The Saints had dinner with Bartholomew last week. He is widely projected to be a day three pick. Bartholomew won't wow anyone with his physical traits, but his effort as a blocker and reliable hands could keep him in the league for a handful of years as a depth TE.

Round 7, Pick 254: Shaun Dolac, LB, Buffalo

Dolac is the definition of "flying around the field" when you watch him on film. There's never a lack of effort, and he's a great athlete for his size. His raw athleticism should get him draft. New Orleans could use more depth at linebacker.
