The Tennessee Vols may have their work cut out for them if they're going to hang on to 2026 four-star tight end Carson Sneed.

Sneed, 6-foot-6/235 lbs from Nashville, TN, has been committed to Tennessee since last August, but he admitted to On3 this week that he's "exploring his options".

The four-star recruit has official visits scheduled to North Carolina, UCLA, Ole Miss, Miami, and Colorado. He also has an official visit scheduled to Tennessee this summer.

Sneed is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 14 tight end in the nation and the No. 7 player in the state of Tennessee.

Scouting report via 247Sports: Throwback in-line tight end prospect that has actually received some valuable snaps at offensive tackle while also doubling as a front-seven defender. Size has not been third-party verified, but is believed to be over 6-foot-5 with the room to eventually carry 260 pounds or more. Rather effective at this stage as an attached blocker and should only get better at sealing off run lanes with improved technique and further physical development. Hasn’t proven to be a real vertical threat in the passing game, but can slip out of the backfield and find soft spots in zone coverage, especially down in the red zone. Should be viewed as a potential asset in an offense that’s heavy on the two and three tight end sets. Could thrive in a sniffer role.

While a flip doesn't seem imminent, it's clear that Tennessee will need to continue to put the full court press on Sneed, who grew up rooting for the Vols, if they're going to sign the talented tight end later this year.

“It is about the relationships, the offense and how they would use me," said Sneed to On3. "I am still committed to Tennessee, so I just have to decide what is best for me. It is about getting developed me for me and seeing who will give me the best shot."

Tennessee currently has eight players committed to its 2026 recruiting class. Sneed is the only tight end that the Vols have committed in the 2026 cycle.
