Oregon is putting an all-out press on the recruiting trail for the nation's top quarterback, Jared Curtis, who is reportedly going to announce his decision between Oregon and Georgia on May 5.
As the Ducks prepare for a new season, Lanning was asked about the quarterback fraternity that's growing at Oregon, with both Justin Herbert and Bo Nix showing up back on campus for the Oregon Pro Day. His answer shows just how special the quarterback pipeline from Oregon has been in recent years.
“The proof is in the pudding. If you’re a great quarterback and you come to the University of Oregon, you've got a chance to have a lot of success," Lanning said. "A chance to go perform in Pro Day’s, get drafted high, and go have the opportunity to play in the NFL.”
While it wasn't directed specifically at Curtis, it certainly feels like it. Lanning is right — the last two quarterbacks that have come to Oregon in Nix and Dillon Gabriel, although both through the transfer portal, have been Heisman Trophy finalists, with Nix going in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft and putting together a very promising rookie season. The system that Oregon has in place is very quarterback friendly, and is proving to be able to develop high level talent.
Curtis is an elite quarterback recruit with a big frame that Oregon hasn't had under center since the Herbert era. If they're able to secure his commitment, it would be a massive win for Lanning and the Ducks as they aim to continue to build the best recruiting program in the country.

Lanning can take that one off his board.
