Titans think it's 'very realistic' for Travis Hunter to be two-way player in NFL and already have a plan for how to use him
Titans are believers in Travis Hunter.
INDIANAPOLIS – The Tennessee Titans are the talk of the town this week in Indianapolis. As another year of the NFL Scouting Combine unfolds, Tennessee is sitting with the first overall pick and a lot of options.
One of those options is Heisman Trophy winner and two-way superstar Travis Hunter. Hunter shined as a cornerback and wide receiver for the Colorado Buffaloes in 2024 with 96 catches, 1,258 receiving yards, and 15 touchdowns to go along with four interceptions and 11 passes defended.

Can Hunter play WR and CB in the NFL?
The biggest question about Travis Hunter as a prospect is whether or not he can continue play both sides of the ball at the next level. Most evaluators believe him to be a better cornerback than he is a wide receiver, but he played an unprecedented 1,443 combined snaps and stood out at both positions.
If Hunter is truly an impactful NFL cornerback and wide receiver, he is absolutely in the conversation to be drafted first overall. But what do teams think of him?
The Tennessee Titans are the one team that matters most and head coach Brian Callahan is confident that Hunter would contribute to his future team on both offense and defense. The Titans have had conversations about what the plan would be for Hunter if they brought him in.
"Very realistic. He’s a unique player," said Callahan during his combine media availability when asked how realistic it was for Hunter player significant snaps at both wide receiver and corner in the NFL. "There’s not a whole lot of other players you can compare what he’s done [to]. There’s not many guys that have played that many snaps on both sides of the ball. You watch his tape and you see his ability to play both at a very high level. I think anybody that you talk to about him is going to the same thing…He has the ability to play both and you find out where he fits if you were to get him."
Callahan said that his plan for Hunter would be to start him out as a cornerback and inject him into the offense as he gets more comfortable with the information and pace of NFL football.
Fit with the Titans
On paper, there is not a great fit with the Titans, especially if Hunter is going to start as a cornerback. This would be a Day 1 starter at the cornerback position joining a team that has invested draft picks and financial resources into filling out an experienced secondary.
L'Jarius Sneed and Chidobe Awuzie are both still under contract and are not expected to go anywhere in 2025 given the guaranteed money on their deals. Roger McCreary is starting caliber and still on his rookie contract and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. really showed flashes of potential during his rookie season (2024).
Hunter is not the perfect fit puzzle piece that Abdul Carter, Cam Ward, or Shedeur Sanders would appear to be. But is the value of getting two players in one too much to pass up? What does the analytics department think?
