The top of the 2025 NFL Draft is as interesting as it gets. There's so much speculation at the 2025 NFL Combine about who the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns could select with the top two selections that we're parsing through every quote for a hint about what to expect.
One surprising difference emerged on Tuesday's press conferences regarding Colorado star Travis Hunter. The 2024 Heisman Trophy winner has generally been viewed as a cornerback prospect, but not every NFL team agrees. In fact, the Titans and Browns have different plans for Hunter, should they opt for him.
Earlier on Tuesday, Titans head coach Brian Callahan suggested he'd start Hunter at cornerback, then integrate him into the offense.
“He probably starts at corner and you find ways to inject him into the offense as he gets more comfortable.”
However, Browns general manager Andrew Berry actually went the other way, saying the team would want to use the "unicorn" talent as a receiver first.
Callahan and Berry each reinforced that Hunter could play both positions but their team needs and evaluations play into how this would shake out.
Tennessee has a great need at both spots but likely value the receiver position a little less in terms of investment cost.
The Browns aren't needing quite the same amount of help at cornerback right now, so that likely influences Berry's comment.
I agree more with Berry that Hunter is more of a receiver prospect than a corner. While he's great at either spot, I think the value of a top receiver is reflected in the pay discrepancy of the two positions. That said, some of this will come down to how he practices and tests.
His film is great at both positions. A playmaking cornerback is incredibly rare, so his upside there might be what tips the scales.
