We might still be in the slow period for the NFL offseason. But the NFL never sleeps, and some significant news surrounding a top free agent came out Tuesday.
NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe reported that the Miami Dolphins are not expected to use the franchise tag on safety Jevón Holland. This would mean that the best free agent safety is one step closer to hitting the market.
The Colts will have the chance to sign Miami safety Jevon Holland with the news of him not being franchise tagged

The Miami Dolphins drafted Jevón Holland in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. His rookie contract just now finished up, and he ended with five interceptions, five forced fumbles, five sacks, and 301 total tackles over the last four years. This past season felt like Holland's worst so far as a pro. It was his career low for total tackles with 62, and it was the first year in his career without a single interception.
The change in the defensive system didn't seem to play to his strengths, and now it looks like the two sides are heading towards a divorce. The Colts have a clear need at safety, and Holland would be a fantastic target for the team this offseason. Holland will only be 25 years old when the 2025 season kicks off which would give his next team a great shot of seeing Holland make a jump and see the peak years of his career.
Starting free safety Julian Blackmon is set to hit free agency, so finding someone the team can trust to play in single-high situations who can play next to Nick Cross is one of their top needs. Holland has a skill set that can allow him to be used in a hybrid safety role similar to that of Kyle Hamilton or Brian Branch. Giving Lou Anarumo that type of player for year one in Indianapolis would be one of the biggest free-agency signings of the Chris Ballard era.
Fans will get to hear from Colts head coach Shane Steichen and GM Chris Ballard ahead of free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft
The 2025 NFL Scouting Combine on-field drills will begin on Thursday, February 27, in Indianapolis, Indiana, but the importance of the event will start even earlier. Colts fans, for example, will want to mark next Tuesday on their calendars, as they will get the rare opportunity to hear from head coach Shane Steichen and general […]
Which free agent players from new Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo’s past make the most sense for the team to sign when free agency begins
The Indianapolis Colts made a big change to kick off their offseason by parting ways with their defensive coordinator, Gus Bradley. After an extensive search with multiple highly respected candidates, they ultimately hired Lou Anarumo, who was most recently with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2024, to be their new DC. This is a drastic defensive philosophy […]
