The Las Vegas Raiders have really started to put together an elite staff here under Pete Carroll, the new head coach and former Super Bowl winner with the Seattle Seahawks. So far, I'd say it sounds like he knows what he is doing.
He was able to make defensive coordinator Patrick Graham stay, while also retaining defensive line coach Rob Leonard — two pivotal pieces to what the Raiders have been good at over the last three years, especially the defensive line. Carroll also brought in Chip Kelly as the offensive coordinator, a guy who just won a National Championship with the Ohio State Buckeyes, and formerly coached the Philadelphia Eagles as a head coach.
The staff that is already in place, with former Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson in as the quarterbacks coach, is already better than any staff we have seen put together under Mark Davis as owner. And it's only getting better.
Pete Carroll has since hired the best running backs coach in college football, or one of the best, in Deland McCullough from Notre Dame. Now, he has hired one of the most underrated position coaches in the entire league, one that will only help the offense get better than it was last season.
Raiders to hire Chris Beatty as wide receivers coach
According to several reports, the Raiders are hiring Chris Beatty as their wide receiver coach.
Chris Beatty has built a notable career as a WRs coach. He started coaching in the late 1990s at high schools in Virginia, where he led teams to state championships and was named Virginia High School League AAA Coach of the Year in 2004.
He moved to college football in 2006, coaching at universities like Hampton, Northern Illinois, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Illinois, Wisconsin, Virginia, Maryland, and Pittsburgh, focusing mainly on wide receivers and running backs.
Beatty entered the NFL in 2021 with the Los Angeles Chargers as their wide receivers coach. In 2024, he joined the Chicago Bears in the same role and was later promoted to interim offensive coordinator. He wasn't retained by the Bears because they brought in an entirely new staff, not because he isn't good at his job.
The Raiders got a good one.
