Former Tennessee Vols star Dalton Knecht was traded earlier this week from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Charlotte Hornets.

Knecht, who was selected by the Lakers with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, averaged 9.4 points per game during his time in Los Angeles. He scored a career high 37 points in win against the Utah Jazz in November.

The former Vol became expendable in Los Angeles after the Lakers traded Anthony Davis (and others) to the Dallas Mavericks for Luka Doncic, one of the biggest blockbuster deals in NBA history.

Knecht should see significantly more playing time with the Hornets, a team that's heading nowhere fast this season.

On Friday, The Charlotte Observer's Rod Boone reported that Knecht will wear No. 4 with the Hornets, ensuring that the "Knecht Four" nickname will live on in the Queen City.

Knecht, who wore No. 3 with the Volunteers, also wore No. 4 with the Lakers.

That's easily one of the best nicknames in the NBA. And I think all Vols fans are certainly glad it will continue in Charlotte.
