Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Cedric Tillman has a new home in the NFL after getting released by the Cleveland Browns last week.
Tillman, who spent the first three seasons of his NFL career in Cleveland, was signed to the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad on Tuesday.
I’m sure Tillman was hoping to land on a 53-man roster, but simply getting out of Cleveland was a win for the former Vol.
Tillman has shown flashes of being a starting-caliber wide receiver in the NFL. He caught 24 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns over a four-game stretch late in the 2024 season (that extrapolates to 102 receptions and 1,283 yards over 17 games). But inconsistent quarterback play in Cleveland, combined with injuries, has prevented Tillman from reaching his potential as a pro.
The Saints aren’t exactly stacked at wide receiver, so Tillman should be able to get an opportunity to be active on game days at some point this season.
