The Michigan Wolverines lost a boatload of talent from their 2024 team, with multiple top-flight NFL talent graduating on both sides of the ball.
However, they still return some key players. ESPN.com’s Chris Low released a list of ‘way-too-early’ All-Americans for the 2025 season, and two Michigan Wolverines football players made the list: safety Rod Moore and kicker Dominic Zvada.
On Rod Moore:
"Moore didn't play a down last season for Michigan after suffering a noncontact ACL tear in spring practice, but he was still named a captain, an indication of what he means to the Wolverines. Moore announced last month that he would return for his senior season after earning All-Big Ten honors in both 2022 and 2023. He has made 27 starts going back to his freshman season and has the experience and versatility to shore up any defense."
On Dominic Zvada:
"The Wolverines' special teams got a huge boost when Zvada decided to return for his senior season. His ability to make long field goals is an offense's best friend. Zvada was 7-of-7 on attempts of 50 yards or longer a year ago and was 21-of-22 overall. His 95.5% conversion rate set a school record, and no field goal was bigger than his 21-yarder to beat Ohio State with 45 seconds to play."
I think both of these nominations are spot-on. Moore was a bright spot for a defense that won a national championship, making several key plays throughout the season the last time we saw him. Outside of Caleb Downs, the rest of the safety play across the country feels wide open.
Dominic Zvada was robbed of being named the best kicker in the country last season, but he was without a doubt. He was Michigan's entire scoring offense for most of the season, including making several long-distance field goals on drives the offense failed to capitalize on. Almost all of Michigan's scoring against Ohio State and Alabama to close the season came on the leg of Zvada, so it's no surprise to see him place on this list.
