Things feel very uncertain for the Cleveland Browns right now and what their future looks like. A lot of that lingers around what is going to happen with superstar DE Myles Garrett.

Garrett has requested a trade from the Browns and wants to land with a contender. By making that request, Garrett signaled that he doesn’t believe the Browns are going to be winners in the near future.

Though Cleveland remains standing on the matter that they will not trade Garrett, things can change down the road. ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler recently provided some insight on what the Browns could get by trading their franchise player.

“People I’ve talked to about Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett’s trade market agree that his immense talent should garner at least two quality picks in return – either two first-rounders or a first-rounder and a high-level Day 2 pick package. They also agree the list of potential suitors would be condensed due to his desire to join a contender after requesting a trade,” Fowler said.

If Cleveland trades Garrett, they will be eating a large chunk of dead cap. Cleveland would essentially be entering a rebuild if they trade the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year. Garrett has at least 14 sacks in each of the last three seasons and is still just 29 years old. There have been no signs of Garrett slowing down, which not only is why the Browns would like to keep him but also why his trade price would be high.

Since the Browns drafted Garrett in 2017, he has become a fan favorite in Northeast Ohio. If the Browns end up trading their franchise player for two first-round picks, it will go down as a loss. It is unlikely the Browns draft a Hall of Fame-level player like Garrett with one of those picks.

We are still early in the stages of all of this and things are going to go back and forth between the Browns and Garrett in the media. However, a clear asking price to start looks to be coming together, if the Browns do want to move Garrett.
