As the Michigan Wolverines look to push for another winning season in 2025, they are poised to call on their talented 2025 class to get them there. While the Wolverines didn't get much from their 2024 class beyond rotational duties, their 2025 class could shift the fortunes of the team for the foreseeable future.
Who are some key freshman playmakers to watch out for in the 2025 season?
3 Wolverines freshmen who can become breakout stars in 2025
QB Bryce Underwood
Duh. Best quarterback recruit of all time for the Wolverines. We'll see how quickly he'll play, given the staff's insistence on a veteran quarterback, but if Underwood takes over midseason, don't be surprised. He's too talented to leave on the bench for long.
SAF Elijah Dotson
Michigan signed a deep class in their secondary, so it's hard to narrow down just one player out of this room, but since I technically have to, I'll go with four-star safety Elijah Dotson. A late flip from Pitt to Michigan, Dotson was a do-it-all impact star in high school, playing cornerback, safety, wide receiver, returner and even some wildcat quarterback in his career.
His athleticism and playmaking ability leap off of the film, but his physicality despite bouncing around positions makes him one of my favorite players in Michigan's class. The local Michigan native has the athleticism and size to play a variety of roles, playing both deep and box safety, and can even handle cornerback as well. It wouldn't surprise me to see him moonlight on offense and special teams too.
I hate making lofty comparisons like this, but usage-wise, Dotson seems like the closest player Michigan has had to Jabrill Peppers since.
WR Andrew Marsh
A top-100 recruit in the 2025 class, Andrew Marsh has a major opportunity ahead of him in Michigan's offense. The Wolverines' wide receiver room has just two proven returners in Semaj Morgan and Indiana transfer Donaven McCulley. While Fred Moore has plenty of ability, there's a massive vacancy in snaps left wide open heading into 2025.
A track star in high school and all-state receiver in Texas, Marsh has the talent to compete for snaps right away. I'd also expect to see him on special teams as well, with his experience returning punts and kicks in high school.
