The Tennessee Vols are one of four programs still in the mix for five-star running back Savion Hiter, one of the top 2026 recruits in the nation.
Hiter, 5-foot-11/200 lbs from Mineral, VA, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 1 running back in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia. He's also rated as the No. 17 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
Tennessee, Michigan, Ohio State, and Georgia are Hiter's final four schools as the elite recruit works toward a decision.
Hiter is set to take official visits to each of those programs later this spring/summer.
Tennessee is in the picture for Hiter, but it's Michigan and Georgia that are viewed as the current leaders for the talented running back.
“Tennessee they’ve done a really good job as well," said Aishia Hiter (Hiter's mother) to On3. "I would say from his top Michigan and Georgia are neck and neck. All the programs in his top if he lands with any of those programs I’d feel confident as a parent to say he’s in good hands.”
According to On3, Hiter will also take a visit to Tennessee on April 5 (which will be during Tennessee's spring practice).
That visit will be key for the Volunteers. If Tennessee is going to make a big move in this recruiting battle, it'll need to happen during the April visit. That's the weekend that could completely change how this recruiting battle looks, but only if the Vols knock it out of the park with Hiter and his family.
