2026 five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon has been committed to the Tennessee Vols since August, but that isn't stopping other teams from pursuing the elite quarterback.
And that's not a surprise considering Brandon, according to 247Sports, is the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.
The Greensboro, NC native told ESPN last week that he's "locked in" with the Vols.
Brandon, however, is still taking calls from other programs that are trying to flip him from Tennessee — mostly because he doesn't want to burn any bridges.
Vols fans, though, shouldn't be concerned that he's taking those calls.
“I don’t decline them but I tell them respectfully I don’t really want to go there,” said Brandon to On3 this week. “I want to keep those relationships because I don’t know what will happen in the future.”
That's a smart approach by the Tennessee commit.
Recruits never know when they'll cross paths with some of these coaches again. For example, a coach that's recruiting Brandon to another program could move on to the NFL down the road. And maybe in a couple of years Brandon is in a position to be drafted by an NFL team that employs a coach that once recruited him in college. The last thing Brandon wants to do is a burn a bridge as a high school recruit that he might need as a pro player in a few years.
You never say never when it comes to recruiting, but it certainly feels like Brandon is as solidly committed to the Vols as a recruit can be. Taking calls from other programs doesn't change that — it's just a smart business move by Brandon.
