Florida State DC Tony White sends a message to the rest of the country regarding their defense in 2025

2023 was a year to forget for the Florida State Seminoles. Well, not really, it was an amazing year that saw the team go undefeated and become ACC Champions, but because of how things used to be, they were left out of the postseason. That's the reason you would forget it if you do. The real season to forget has to be this last year, where the Seminoles had their worst season since the mid-1970s.
And, this is a very historic football program, so the Noles fan base was not used to what happened last year — going from first to worst in one year. It doesn't happen often, but it happened last year. However, this is college football, and because of the landscape of college football right now, why can't the Noles turn this thing around in one year?
Why can't they get back to their winning ways? I'm not saying a championship or anything of that nature. But, why can't they get back to being a good team?
Florida State Seminoles football needs to create good defense for 2025
It starts on defense for the Noles. The offense is a lot of work, and we know they will be trying to play catch up. So, they will first try and perfect the defensive side of the ball with defensive coordinator Tony White, who already has a plan for how 2025 should look with his team.
"Mentality, the way we physically impose our will on opponents, when people face Florida State, when offensive coordinators watch us on film, they better say 'oh —-, we better have that extra day in pads, we better take out skelly period and put an inside run period in there,'" Tony White recently said. "That's the mentality. We're going to physically impose our will on our opponents. Period."
That's the kind of defense that can single-handedly win you football games, even with a bad offense. The perfect example of that is the Oklahoma Sooners last season, who had a terrible offense, one of the worst in the league, but their elite defense kept them in games and even won games for them.
Sure, the Sooners only won six games last year, but six is a hell of a lot better than two. Ask head coach Mike Norvell which he would rather have had last year.
The Seminoles have to get back to winning football, and that starts with making your presence felt on defense.
