Recruiting classes are becoming more balanced out amongst the top schools with only so many five-star caliber players being affordable each cycle.

Ohio State has just four commitments in the class of 2026 and five-star Chris Henry Jr. headlines the class. Since the 2024 season is over and the 2025 class is wrapped up, the Buckeyes will put more attention toward 2026.

Ohio State took three running backs in the class of 2025 but doesn’t have one committed for 2026 yet. However, one of the Buckeyes’ biggest targets at running back is one they’re going to have to battle Georgia for.

Carsyn Baker is a four-star running back from Fairburn, Georgia, and recently told On3 that the Buckeyes and Georgia are the two teams standing out.

“Ohio State and Georgia are up there at this moment,” Baker said. “What gives those two the edge is that it’s always been a dream of mine to play for them. They’ve been recruiting me very hard in the process so far too. The development I can get with the coaching staffs also with the great culture they have make them stand out.”

Ohio State brought in a strong class in 2025 in Carlos Locklyn’s first season as running backs coach. Bo Jackson, Isaiah West, and Anthony Rogers offer as good of a group as you will find in 2025. Now turning toward 2026, Baker is one of the big targets.

Baker is a 6-foot, 200-pound running back who holds nearly 40 offers from programs all over the country. During his junior season, Baker ran for 1,282 yards and recorded 13 rushing touchdowns.

Georgia is a state with premier high school talent and Ohio State has always recruited it. Like it always goes though, Baker will be tough to get away from the home-state Bulldogs.
