Aaron Rodgers is set to test the free-agent waters for the first time in forever.
After being told 'see ya later' by the New York Jets, many have started to connect the dots regarding Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But one of his former teammates says not so fast, and it's for a fairly damning reason…
Greg Jennings Doesn't Think Steelers Have Supporting Cast for Rodgers
"You have to have a supporting cast that’s intriguing for Aaron Rodgers, Jennings said on FS1. "If we are just looking from Aaron Rodgers’ perspective. He wants to win another championship, so you can eliminate anybody who you believe doesn’t have a chance. So that leaves the Pittsburgh Steelers are a team that you would say, ‘Okay, maybe,’ but I would eliminate them because they don’t have the supporting cast.”
There's two ways to look at this, the defensive mindset that many Steelers fans would pose by saying "we don't want Rodgers anyway," and the other point of view, which is that the Steelers offensive line, pass-catching talent and RB situation is not nearly good enough for a player who needs all the help he can get as he approaches his mid-40s.
And all of the conversation is liley for not. It's worth at least pondering if Pittsburgh would be interested in bringing in Rodgers, especially if Russell Wilson is in fact on his way out, but he's not the player who broke the hearts of Steelers fans in the Super Bowl nearly a decade and a half ago.
So who knows what the Steelers plan to do at QB in 2025? If you listen to some recent reporting, even they are unsure of their plan. There is a new name nearly every day, and everything from a return of last year's two starters to a veteran free agent signing to a head-scratching draft pick is in play this offseason.
