A lot has been made about the New York Giants letting Saquon Barkley leave to the Philadelphia Eagles, and understandably so. It's the ultimate example of a decision blowing up on their faces, as Barkley was a crucial piece for the division rival that can now call itself Super Bowl champions.
The narrative is made even worse by the fact that fans got an inside look to the decision to move on from Barkley via HBO's Hard Knocks, in which Giants owner John Mara went viral for a clip in which he tells GM Joe Schoen he would "have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philly."
Following Barkley's Super Bowl win with the Eagles, the star running back was put on the spot when he was asked about the clip on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. Just like on the football field, Barkley hurdled the awkward question with nothing but class.
"That clip doesn't really display my relationship with that organization from top to bottom, they're the people that brought me in," Barkley told Fallon. "But after the game, so many guys and people from the organization reached out to me and were super happy—one, for my birthday, and two, to see me hold that Lombardi Trophy up because they know the hard work that I put in."
Though Barkley has had his fun throwing some jabs at the Giants, including through an ad for sleeping aid pills where he says "I've heard some of you guys have some trouble sleeping lately," he's moved on from the drama and he shared a message Eagles fans will love to hear.
"That clip is in the past, and I'm happy to be an Eagle," Barkley said. "I look at it like Marshall Faulk, one of my favorite running backs. He played for the Colts, but he's remembered as a Ram. So now, I'm just trying to be remembered as an Eagle."
