The Florida Gators have not been the strongest when it comes to the 2026 recruiting class. It's not from a lack of effort on head coach Billy Napier's part, as they have been very active in getting recruits to come visit this summer.

So far, they have not been able to turn that into commitments. Right now, the Gators only have two commitments for the 2026 recruiting class, as they have already lost two defensive back commitment. Of those two commitments the Gators have, they are in danger of losing one of them, which we should have seen coming.

Florida Gators in danger of losing top commit

Throughout the offseason recruiting process, the Gators landed the number three linebacker in Izayia Williams. A consensus four-star who is the 41st overall recruit in the nation, Williams was a really good add for Napier.

There was a problem with Williams: Florida is the fourth school he's committed to.

It's something to be concerned about, including this nugget from Gators Online's Corey Bender, who said that the two sides have yet to discuss NIL and that it's not a marriage with multiple schools, including Ole Miss, looking to poach Williams.

“Yes, he’s committed to Florida, but the thing I was told is that it’s not a marriage,” said Bender. “And you have to continue to recruit these kids all the way up to signing day. I know Ole Miss has a really big backing for NIL. … And from what I was told as well, Florida and Williams’ camp have yet to discuss NIL at all. I know that’s something their camp really isn’t surprised about because usually at official visit weekends, that’s where it’s kind of further discussed. But he’s one of those kids, from what I’m told, who is going to take all his official visits.”

With the history that Williams currently has, it's worth being concerned about, especially with only two commitments.
