Former Tennessee Vols defensive back Christian Charles reportedly has a new football home.

Charles, a former three-star recruit who signed with Tennessee during the 2021 recruiting cycle, entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this offseason.

On Monday night, 247Sports reported that Charles is joining the Virginia Cavaliers' football program.

Charles spent four seasons at Tennessee, totaling 71 tackles and three tackles for loss during his time on Rocky Top. He played in 30 games for the Vols, which includes six starts at cornerback during the 2022 season.

The Georgia native played 240 snaps for the Volunteers last season while earning a 62.1 overall grade from Pro Football Focus.

Charles likely would've provided quality depth in Tennessee's secondary had he elected to stay in Knoxville for the 2025 season. But thanks to rise of NIL and the NCAA transfer portal, it's becoming increasingly difficult for college football programs to build depth.

Tennessee is also losing safety Jakobe Thomas to the transfer portal. Thomas is set to visit Miami and Florida State this week.
