‘I don’t think it will be close’ – Former college football head coach turned analyst leaves no doubt on how he sees Tennessee vs Alabama playing out
No one in the national media seems to think the Tennessee Volunteers have a chance against the Alabama Crimson Tide this weekend.
Not many people are giving the Tennessee Vols much of a chance this weekend against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Nearly every prediction we’ve seen has Alabama beating Tennessee in Knoxville, and that includes the prediction from CBS Sports’ Rick Neuheisel.
Neuheisel, who served as UCLA’s head coach from 2008 to 2011, thinks Alabama will beat Tennessee on Saturday and he doesn’t think the game will be close.
“I think Alabama gets up off the mat (after the loss to Georgia),” said Neuheisel. “I think it was an emotional loss, but I think they also realize that they can play with anybody in the country. And I think that coaching staff will get their attention and make sure that they play their best going into what will be another hostile environment, which is the case always in the SEC.
“They’re playing a team (in Tennessee) that’s last in the SEC in passing. Faizon Brandon is brand new and trying to learn the game. (George) MacIntyre threw two picks last week against Arkansas. With that being said, all will be dedicated to stopping (DeSean) Bishop. I don’t think it will be close. I think Alabama handles business.”
Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel has to love what he’s hearing from the national media this week. He should have no problem getting his team to embrace a “no one believes in us” mentality, which should help the Vols play with a much-needed edge against Alabama.
