A pair of former Tennessee Vols players were named by 247Sports this week as two of the top 25 most underrated transfers of the offseason.
Former Vols wide receiver Squirrel White landed with the Florida State Seminoles this offseason after spending the first three seasons of his career at Tennessee.
And former Vols quarterback Kaidon Salter, who was dismissed from Tennessee's football team in 2021 before ever playing a game with the program, transferred to Colorado this offseason after four seasons at Liberty.
Both White and Salter were listed by 247Sports as two of the top 25 most underrated transfers of the offseason.
White was ranked at No. 12 while Salter was ranked at No. 5.
From 247Sports on Squirrel White: The Seminoles were in desperate need of a slot threat and White moved to Tallahassee just in time — before Tennessee had unforeseen quarterback issues of its own.
On Kaidon Salter: Coming out of spring practice, Kaidon Salter held off freshman Julian Lewis for first-team reps at Colorado in the wake of Shedeur Sanders' departure to the NFL. Salter was 20-4 as a starter under Jamey Chadwell at Liberty after throwing for nearly 6,000 yards and rushing for more than 2,000 with 77 total touchdowns. Salter can run and adds a new dimension to the Buffaloes' attack they didn't have last season with the pocket-passing Sanders. Without Heisman winner Travis Hunter on the outside, Colorado is going to need to make things happen at quarterback and Salter can shoulder that task
White's departure was a tough loss for Tennessee — especially considering the difficulties the Vols have had in trying to land a transfer wide receiver during the spring transfer window.
