The Las Vegas Raiders have had too many coaches over the last ten years. There's not really been enough continuity or consistency within the organization, and there's been a ton of turnover. And, that's not good, and it's why the Raiders have gone over 20 years since their last playoff win.
It appears the last time they were in a prime position to be a good team, playoff win or not, for consecutive seasons, was when Jon Gruden was the head coach. Of course, we all know how that ended. But he was the head coach to start the season of the last time they made the playoffs. And Rich Bisaccia got them the rest of the way there.
Since then, it's been Josh McDaniels for a season and a half, and Antonio Pierce for a season and a half, and that could come to a screeching halt after this year, as Pierce has posted an almost identical record as McDaniels had as head coach.
But with Gruden, they were more of a well-oiled machine than they are now. And now, someone else could soon be getting that.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, teams have been interested and doing their due diligence on him since his incident. Pelissero also revealed that Gruden almost had an opportunity to become the offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints in 2023.
Gruden made his fair share of mistakes, and he has since admitted to that. Now, I won't get too deep into everything, but it seems like he has made some of the things right from his past. He's back out there now in the football world, and no one loves football more than him.
I can't see him being a Raiders head coach again, but man, someone should certainly hire him if given the chance.
