NFL insider confirms suspicion surrounding Chris Olave’s injury that had his game status up in the air heading into Ravens matchup
Chris Olave was listed as questionable on the Saints’ final injury report and ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently shed light on whether or not he’ll play against the Ravens.
Chris Olave has blossomed into one of the NFL’s best receivers dating back to the 2025 season, so it’s easy to see why his availability (or unavailability) was a huge talking point heading into the New Orleans Saints’ Week 2 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
Chris Olave dealt with a hamstring injury throughout the week, missing the first round of Saints practice on Wednesday before getting two limited sessions in ahead of the Ravens matchup. He was officially listed as questionable on Friday before traveling with the team to Baltimore on Saturday.
NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill initially opined over the weekend that it would be “shocking” if Olave didn’t play on Sunday, but things were still unofficial at the time. Afterward, ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted early Sunday morning that Olave is in fact expected to play.
Chris Olave’s expected presence is obviously a huge boon for the Saints’ passing attack and offense in general as it’s going up against a Ravens defense that looked pretty good in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. Olave recorded 10 receptions for 182 yards on 13 targets against the Detroit Lions in the season-opener and now has 34 receptions for 534 yards and four touchdowns over his last four games dating back to last year.
Chase Young is expected to play against the Ravens, too
Olave’s availability isn’t the only good news heading into the Ravens matchup. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, defensive end Chase Young is expected to play this week, as well.
Like Olave, Young missed Wednesday’s practice with a calf injury, but later put in limited sessions on Thursday and Friday before finishing the week with a questionable label. Rapoport clarified he has been dealing with soreness, but it’s not bad enough to where he’ll miss this week’s game.
Young didn’t have much of an impact against the Lions, but is coming off a career year in which he recorded 10.0 sacks in Brandon Staley’s defense. Therefore, there’s no doubt his play will help the Saints defense try and stop what appears to be another powerful version of the Ravens offense with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry running the show.
Overall, it’s a double dose of good news for the Saints that can help them avoid the dreaded 0-2 start.
