On Tuesday, the Oklahoma Sooners landed yet another wide receiver through the transfer portal and another one that has killer speed. They lost a lot of guys through the transfer portal, but no position group on the Sooners' roster took a hit as big as the wide receiver room did.

They have quickly regained some of that back in terms of having the bodies. Only time will tell if these players they have added are going to be good in 2025 or not.

Sooners add WR Josiah Martin

Josiah Martin, a promising young wide receiver, first committed to the California Golden Bears out of Denton Guyer High School in Texas. As a three-star athlete, he was known for his speed.

In high school, he earned first-team all-district accolades, amassing an impressive tally of 66 receptions, 1,047 yards, and 12 touchdowns in his final year. His recruitment was a major win for Cal, as he opted for Berkeley over several prestigious offers from Power Five schools, including Alabama and Oregon.

In his freshman year with the Golden Bears, Martin saw action in seven games, recording 12 catches for 112 yards but did not score a touchdown. His standout performance came in the LA Bowl against UNLV, where he showcased his versatility by scoring on a 29-yard reverse play and adding four receptions for 40 yards.

Despite this highlight, Martin chose to enter the transfer portal, indicating his desire to seek new opportunities. Other players who also just got a chance to sign in their bowl game, are transferring out too, like Arkansas wide receiver Dazmin James, who had 137 receiving yards for Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl in his first game.

Martin's decision garnered attention, particularly following his impressive bowl game display, hinting at his capability to make a significant contribution at his next stop. And, here he is, now an Oklahoma wide receiver, along with the few other commits the Sooners have gotten over the past few weeks.

Josiah Martin can be the real deal

Martin worked with former Oklahoma defensive back Michael Hawkins, yes the quarterback's father, who also played in the NFL for the Dallas Cowboys. Hawkins recently made a post about Martin and it appears he thinks he can really be elite.

If you wondering what you getting with Josiah Martin him working against to NFL corners in the offseason always putting in work getting better. Trust me he has the goods…… Big get

The Sooners need that elite speed in this Ben Arbuckle offense, too. They have some pieces they have added that may not all be superstars, but will all help this offense get much better than where they were the year before, which won't be very hard to do.
