The 2025 NFL Draft will be missing a player who had been projected to be selected as high as the top 10 earlier this year. Alabama pass-rusher LT Overton announced his return to school on New Year's Day for his senior season.
Overton, at 6-foot-5, 285-pounds, ended up cooling off as the SEC schedule continued, but he played well enough to be taken early Day 2. His impressive frame and versatility to play on the edge or inside make him especially interesting for mutliple fronts.
“The journey towards success that has been paved at Alabama by the guys before me is not over,” Overton wrote on Instagram.
“I am excited to take on challenges, and I am always looking to provide leadership. I am also committed to working hard to achieve the goals that I share with my teammates.
“As the late Kobe Bryant would say — job’s not finished!

Some good news for Alabama fresh off a disappointing loss
“In fact, this is just beginning, 2025 will be a time for action. This is my official announcement — I am returning for my senior year. Roll Tide, Roll!”
Once a five-star prospect in Texas A&M's 2022 recruiting class from Alpharetta, Georgia, Overton moved to Alabama after spending two seasons with the Aggies. During his time at A&M, he recorded 48 tackles, one sack, and three tackles for loss over 23 games.
At Alabama, Overton took on the Bandit position alongside Jah-Marien Latham. In 11 games, he led the Crimson Tide with nine quarterback hurries, along with 35 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, a pass deflection, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.
However, with nine missed tackles and multiple sack opportunities squandred, Overton has plenty of room to improve and gain traction in a less-loaded 2026 defensive line class. It'd make sense for him to add more weight and transition to a full-time 3-4 end and 4-3 tackle, given his fluidity and natural size.
Against Wisconsin, Overton had an impressive performance with six tackles, which included a tackle for loss and a sack, as well as a pass deflection and a forced fumble.
