The Tennessee Titans have requested an interview with former Tennessee Vols linebacker and current Miami Dolphins senior personnel executive Reggie McKenzie, according to ESPN's Turron Davenport.
The request comes a day after the Titans fired general manager Ran Carthon after just two seasons with the franchise.
McKenzie, who played at Tennessee from 1981 to 1984, spent seven seasons as a player in the NFL. The former Vol started his executive career in 1994 as a pro personnel assistant with the Green Bay Packers.
After moving up the ladder in Green Bay over the course of 17 years, McKenzie was named as the general manager of the Oakland Raiders in 2012. He held that position until he was let go following the 2018 season (the Raiders are currently on their third general manager since moving on from McKenzie).
McKenzie has been with the Dolphins since 2019.
The Titans are looking for a general manager that will work under president of football operations Chad Brinker.
According to Brinker, the franchise wants a general manager who is "a top-flight, top-level evaluator who has spent the majority of their career projecting college players to the National Football League".
Brinker and McKenzie worked together in Green Bay for three seasons (2009 to 2011). At the time, Brinker was a scouting assistant and McKenzie was the director of football operations.
