Ohio State is preparing for Texas in the Cotton Bowl after defeating Oregon in the Rose Bowl. If the Buckeyes can pull off their third straight win, they will advance to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.

Texas is coming off an overtime win over Arizona State. It took a touchdown on fourth and long to take down the Sun Devils. Still, Texas is a very talented team and on paper, they’re the best competition to Ohio State left.

The Buckeyes are favored heading into this game and Texas is the underdog. It appears that Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is fully buying into the underdog mentality.

“I need Longhorn Nation to show out in Arlington. We are going to need everything we’ve got to try to win this game," Sarkisian said. "Clearly, we are massive underdogs. Nobody is going to give us a shot. So we're going to need all that we can to try to win this game.”

Sometimes teams tend to slip up when everyone is in their corner, it creates pressure of sorts. That could be what Sarkisian is trying to do to Ohio State. The Buckeyes know they are riding high right now and that must continue if they want to win it all. One simple slip-up would end their season short of their ultimate goal.

Texas has a well-balanced team like the Buckeyes with an offense that can put up points and a stingy defense. Ohio State is familiar with Quinn Ewers from his short time in Columbus. The Buckeyes sacked Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel eight times after not getting to him at all back in October. Ohio State needs to continue to get that kind of production from their defense the rest of the way.

Ohio State can’t drink the juice that Sarkisian is serving up and they have to keep the same mindset they’ve had since losing to Michigan. If Ohio State can win the Cotton Bowl, they’ll be just one win away from their first National Championship since 2014.
