George Pickens the character may finally be catching up to George Pickens the player.
In what had to have been the worst game of his career, the talented yet troubled WR was the face of drama yet again.
But this time, it was Steelers fans that took issue with Pickens, and he wanted every piece of them:
George Pickens gets into it with Steelers fans
The Cincinnati Bengals corraled Pickens all night, and he didn't receive any help from his QB either, who missed Pickens on what would have likely been the game-winning deep shot given the way Chris Boswell has been playing.
Instead, Pickens ended the night with one catch for zero yards and three drops on six targets. Oh and one fight attempt of course. Even still, Russell Wilson won't hesitate to throw Pickens the ball going forward, although forward may not last long the way this team is playing right now:
"I believe in George [Pickens], Russell Wilson said after the game. "Everything's not always perfect for everyone. This is an imperfect game. I believe in George. I believe in who he is, the player that he is. He's been a star for us all season. And you know, he's gonna be a difference maker for us in the playoffs. I'm looking forward to that and what he can do, what we can do together. I'm not blinking on George, if anybody believes in him, I definitely do."
For Pickens, the antics just continue to add up. He was fined yet again after returning for the first time in weeks against the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas, and he let a fan get under his skin in his second game back.
At some point, the Steelers are going to have to ask themselves if he's worth the price of admission. But whether it's Pittsburgh or anyone else, zero yards on six targets will never be good enough, no matter how talented the player is, but especially when they come with the personality of Pickens.
"I think that great players, you know, sometimes, it doesn't go their way that day," Russ added on Pickens. "You know, you go to the ballpark, and sometimes it doesn't go your way. "But if anybody believes in George I do. I have no no hesitation to throw the football to him. What he can do and what he means to us and our football team and the rest of the guys too… I mean, I think all of our guys, we trust and [know] what he can do."
