The Las Vegas Raiders are getting so much closer to getting their full and final staff for the 2025 season. They have their defensive coordinator in Patrick Graham and his staff, like Rob Leonard, the defensive line coach. They have their offensive coordinator in Chip Kelly, who just led Ohio State to a National Championship with the best offense in the country. Under him is Greg Olson, the offensive coordinator of the 2021 Raiders, the last team to make the postseason.
And then there are front office positions they still need filled. Now, they have filled another one, with this time it being a guy familiar to general manager John Spytek. And, to make it even better, they stole him from their biggest rival.
Raiders to hire Mark Thewes
Mark Thewes has been a key figure in the NFL for over 20 years, helping out several NFL franchises. He started his career with the Cleveland Browns in 1999, working in marketing and sponsorships until 2004. After a stint at GMR Marketing in Charlotte, he joined the Denver Broncos in 2009 as an assistant to the head coach. Over time, he moved up to become the Director of Team Administration and then the Vice President of Football Operations and Compliance, where he managed compliance, roster issues, and football analytics.
Mark Thewes will now serve as Senior Vice President of Football Operations and Strategy. This move reunites him with John Spytek, with whom he worked in Denver during the 2010s, aiming to strengthen the Raiders' front office under the new leadership of Pete Carroll and John Spytek.
He is part of the reason the Broncos had the success they did this year. The Raiders would like to steal some of that from their biggest rival, who made the playoffs this year but lost to the Buffalo Bills.
