Bearcats are considered vulnerable and endangered animals despite have no known predators outside of humans, but Poppy has been at the Kansas City Zoo since 2023. The Cincinnati Zoo is also no stranger to bearcats like Poppy as Lucille The Bearcat remains the school's ambassador from the Zoo, a role she's held sinc.

Kelce is one of two former UC players competing on Sunday along with teammate Bryan Cook. Kelce played three seasons in Clifton and spent a year off the team due to off-field troubles. He shined as a senior in 2012, catching 45 passes for 722 yards and eight touchdowns before the Chiefs drafted him in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. Cook was a part of the 2021 College Football Playoff squad and was drafted in the second round of the 2022 draft by Kansas City.

Two years ago, Kelce went up against his brother and former Bearcat Jason Kelce of the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII. Jason, a former walk-on linebacker for Cincy, played four years for the Cats and eventually was drafted in the sixth round by Philly in 2011. Travis' Chiefs bested Jason's Eagles, 38-35, in what was Jason's last postseason game in the NFL. Jason had won his first and only ring five years prior before Travis had even reached a Super Bowl with K.C.

The younger Kelce (and Cook) will be representing Bearcats from Cincinnati, Kansas City, and all the way to the rainforests of Southeast Asia were the species originates from.
