The Michigan Wolverines were fairly active in the transfer portal, adding 12 transfers on top of their stellar 2025 recruiting class.
The prize of their portal haul was former Alabama five-star recruit running back Justice Haynes. This week, Haynes was named one of the eleven best fits out of the transfer portal ahead of the 2025 college football season by 247Sports.
"Among the highly-sought-after running back prospects in the country just a few short years ago, Justice Haynes is seeking a new lease on life after departing a fruitful yet complementary role under Kalen DeBoer and Nick Sheridan at Alabama. With Michigan running backs Kalel Mullings and Donovan Edwards both exiting for the NFL, Haynes' fit next to presumed starting quarterback Bryce Underwood is quintessential. A downhill runner with a physical running style, the Georgia native should plug in seamlessly to an offense hell-bent on establishing the line of scrimmage."
Haynes rushed for 440 yards and seven touchdowns this season for the Crimson Tide, playing a complementary spot to Jamarion Miller and quarterback Jalen Milroe in the run game.
He's a perfect fit for what Michigan wants to run offensively under new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey, but more importantly, he arrives at the perfect time to become a breakout star for the Wolverines.
Michigan has to figure out the future of the offense around Bryce Underwood after a horrible offensive output in 2024. Their best players all left for the NFL, leaving the cupboard of offensive talent bare for next season.
With an offense that has to improve in 2025, Justice Haynes arrives at the right time to be a leader on that side of the ball and can be the key to righting the ship offensively in time for Bryce Underwood to hit his stride.
