LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly will enter the 2025 season facing plenty of pressure.
Kelly is entering his fourth season in Baton Rouge and although he's done a good job so far — 29-11 in three seasons — the former Notre Dame head coach is still looking to get the Tigers to the College Football Playoff for the first time since Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson were in town.
Throw in the fact that Notre Dame, the program Kelly left for LSU, just competed in the national championship game and it's easy to see why the pressure will be ratcheted up a notch in 2025.
That's why it's probably not ideal for Kelly that LSU is viewed as having one of the toughest 2025 college football schedules in the nation.
247Sports recently ranked the toughest schedules in college football and they have LSU's schedule as the sixth hardest in the nation.
From 247Sports: 2025 schedule: at Clemson, Louisiana Tech, Florida, Southeastern Louisiana, at Ole Miss, South Carolina, at Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, at Alabama, Arkansas, Western Kentucky, at Oklahoma
Brian Kelly intends on being one of the SEC's representatives in the College Football Playoff. And if he wins 10 games against this schedule, the Tigers will be deserving. LSU opens at reigning ACC champion Clemson on the road and also travels to Oxford, Nashville, Tuscaloosa and Norman. Home games against Florida, South Carolina and Texas A&M are of equal importance.
That's certainly a daunting schedule for the Tigers. Playing at Clemson is never easy. Nor is playing at Alabama. A trip to Oxford will be challenging as well.
It's a tough schedule, but the good news for LSU is that there isn't a single game on that schedule that feels like an "automatic loss" for the Tigers. LSU can absolutely win all of those games (that's not a prediction, but it's doable).
At the very least, LSU needs to go 10-2 to ensure they reach the College Football Playoff for the first time in the Brian Kelly era.
