Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley isn't the only one who could cash in some big money with a Super Bowl LIX win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts is also playing for money.
According to Spotrac, Hurts can earn $500,000 with a Super Bowl win and another $500,000 for being named MVP. Those are the only two incentives that Hurts can earn on top of his $51 million 2024 salary.
Hurts is headed to his second Super Bowl in three years, making him one of just eight quarterbacks in league history to start two Super Bowls in his first five seasons. The last time Hurts led the Birds to a Super Bowl was during the 2022 season when they fell to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, 38-35.
When asked by reporters what Hurts has learned since his last shot at the Lombardi trophy, he couldn't exactly pinpoint anything since this is a completely different team from three years ago.
“Hard to say right now. Hard to say right now. I just think you have to give a ton of gratitude," Hurts said. "These are my personal testimonies, and I know my personal perspective is not always a reflection of what is most important to the team and what we’re trying to do as a team because every team is different. So then clearly, as a team, the mission is to go take advantage of the opportunities we present ourselves with. But also I have my history and the things that I’ve experienced that I can use as tools to help those around me and help myself. And so a lot of this stuff is presented to us, and we all have that plateau to learn from all of our experiences."
Hurts added that many of his current teammates have never made it this far.
"And a lot of guys that have not experienced some of these things got a lot of guys that, from these Georgia guys that have made a big impact on our team, to the young defensive backs that we’ve had," he said. "And not everyone was a part of that, but that’s why everyone, that’s why every team is different, and every year is new. So there’s been a sense of togetherness for us to all come together and try to achieve the ultimate team goal. And we’ve done a great job of that to this point of being able to put ourselves in this position.”
Fans can tune into FOX on Sunday, Feb. 9 as Hurts and the Eagles look to redeem themselves against the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59.
