Nick Sirianni has his back against the wall heading into the 2026 season, and that might be exactly where the Philadelphia Eagles need him. The Eagles head coach delivered a speech in front of the entire team recently that went viral for all the right reasons.

Sirianni talked about mastering the fundamentals, honing your craft, and becoming an expert at the boring things. It was the kind of message that lands differently when everybody in the building knows the stakes.

And the stakes are real. There’s pressure on Sirianni, that’s fair to say. But I think people are sleeping on what this version of him is capable of.

A completely different coach

Go back to that first press conference. People were making fun of him because he was stuttering, because he seemed unsure of himself, because he didn’t fit the mold of what Philadelphia expected from its head coach.

That guy and the guy who stood in front of this team talking about work ethic and discipline? A completely different person. The transformation has been genuinely impressive to watch, and I think it’s going to show up in a big way this year.

Why? Because when Nick Sirianni has his back against the wall and the doubt is at its highest, that’s when you find out what people are really made of. We’ve seen this movie before. A couple years ago, the Eagles collapsed. Everybody was calling for Sirianni’s head. People wanted him fired, wanted Jalen Hurts traded, wanted the whole thing torn down. What did he do? He rallied the troops. We’ve since heard there was a lot going on behind the scenes that we didn’t fully know about at the time, and he brought this team back to the top. The Eagles went on a historic Super Bowl run and dominated everybody in their path. Sirianni deserves credit for that.

The CEO coach who keeps it all together

Look, he may be a CEO coach. He may not be the guy drawing up every play or making every specific schematic adjustment. But he has a hand on everything, and his most important job is keeping this team bonded together. That’s not some throwaway responsibility, that’s the whole thing.

Think about the A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts drama that was swirling around this team. For Sirianni to manage that situation and still keep the locker room together, still keep guys pulling in the same direction, that shows a skill set we probably didn’t give him enough credit for early on. Connecting players, managing egos, keeping the temperature right in a building full of strong personalities. That’s hard. And he’s proven he can do it when things get messy.

I think Sirianni has earned more respect than he gets. He continues to sharpen that message, continues to grow as a leader, and now he’s walking into a season where everybody is watching to see if he can hold it together one more time. The pressure is undeniable. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned about this coach, it’s that pressure tends to bring out his best.
