The Ohio State Buckeyes are big game hunting on the recruiting trail after losing TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins to the 2025 NFL Draft. Although the Buckeyes have a handful of impressive freshmen rushers coming in, 2026 No. 1 running back Savion Hiter is the crown jewel they want the most.

This week, running backs coach Carlos Locklyn visited Hiter, per the 4-star ball carrier's social media page. Ohio State is considered the slight favorite to land Hiter on On3's predictor page.

Hiter has narrowed his list of schools down to four contenders: Tennessee, Michigan, Georgia, and Ohio State. All these schools are anticipated to receive an official visit from the talented running back, setting the stage for a significant recruiting rivalry in the upcoming senior class.

He plans to take unofficial visits to these schools again in the spring to gain a better understanding of his options, but the possibility of official visits adds a new dimension, especially since there was earlier speculation about him making an early commitment.

NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) has become a hot topic, impacting many recruitments today, with some elite recruits scoring substantial deals as freshmen in college.

How will this factor impact Hiter’s recruitment as he continues to refine his list?

“I’m not really that worried about [NIL], but it does factor a little bit into my recruiting process and stuff like that,” the running back acknowledged. “But, I don’t really let it affect me like that. Because no matter where you go, especially with Rev Share and everything.”
